Today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi closes a chapter in her exceptional American journey.
For nearly 15 years, and immediately prior to my swearing in as SEC Commissioner this past July, I had the privilege of serving as her senior adviser.
Witnessing her extraordinary leadership up close, and her unwavering commitment to the well-being of America’s working families, was the experience of a lifetime.
Speaker Pelosi’s record of accomplishment during her historic tenure as Speaker, Democratic Leader and Democratic Whip has made our country stronger.
From grappling with the 2008 financial crisis and the pandemic to shepherding important priorities for our country, like the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the Affordable Care Act, her legacy will endure for generations.
I will always be grateful to Speaker Pelosi for all that she has accomplished in service of our country and for her commitment to upholding our country’s most cherished ideals.
With enormous gratitude, I wish Speaker Pelosi and all of her family the best, and wish her husband Paul, a speedy recovery.
